Life Lately

One of my mantras during the days of young young kids has always been “Live fully in the season you are in.” It helps remind me that everything is temporary, and to enjoy it while we’re there. Sometimes it works better than others. Lately I’ve been noticing that our season is shifting. Kids are getting bigger and more mature. Interests are changing, as are our abilities as a family.

It’s thrown me a bit - sometimes it feels like everything I know has changed, and I need to start learning all over again. So I’m trying to look around and notice all the fun things. Things my kids never would have done before (like ride a bull!?), to things that are just fun little insights into every day life. Play set ups that make me smile.

This new season definitely has its perks. I’ve introduced the kids to Matilda and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. We’ve spent longer days at farms, festivals and museums without meltdowns. Packing to go on weekend trips is easier. Sleeping in a hotel room is easier.

Some things aren’t easier, but that’s okay too. It’s just a season.
