It’s been a while since I’ve done regular updates here, and in that period we’ve missed a few birthdays! Instead of doing full posts, I’m just going to hit some quick highlights for each kid by age:
SEVEN
You are the sweetest, craziest, silliest child, and you keep me on my toes more than anyone. Seven wonderful years with you and I’m learning new things about you and how your mind works every day. You bring a new perspective to this house - you keep us laughing and eating donuts.
You’re doing amazing in school, you’re reading now, and you still love sheepies. Happy birthday!
NINE
You have matured so much lately, and I find myself having these really deep conversations with you about the state of the world and why people behave the way they do, and how to build a better society and just… amazing. Babies are awesome, but this is so cool.
You’ve also handled some really hard things lately. Switching schools, dealing with some siblings stealing time and attention, and failing you first karate belt test. I’ve watched you deal with the emotions and learn how to move forward. And I was even more proud when you did finally pass! Happy Birthday!
FIVE
Happy 5th Birthday - just in time to start kindergarten this year. Which is good because you are so ready to take on the world now. Top speed, full force at everything you do, you’re going to make sure your opinions are known. No longer a little kid, you are becoming the coolest, wildest little person, and we’re just along for the ride.
