Surprising no one, this year’s theme was LEGO! Super fun, super timely for us. It also gave us a great excuse to rewear our shirts from Legoland.
As always, the cake needed to be on theme, and I thought building a Lego piece would be easy! Turns out it’s been a while since I’ve made a square cake, and the circles on top weren’t easy either haha. It worked though.
We also found a lot of fun decorations, although honestly we have so much Lego stuff in the house, almost anything we own could be decorations! Also since E and I have birthdays close to each other, E got some extra 40th decorations haha. At least they weren’t born on their due date and we have some space between birthdays.
For their actual party, E invited their entire class again. I feel like it’s always a good place to start, and includes kids who maybe aren’t getting invited to a lot of parties. And then because we’ve done this a few times, we start inviting friends from outside the class as the no RSVPs come in. In the end we ended up with about half and half - kids from their classroom and friends from previous years. It was a great group and a super fun party.
We found a place that did Lego parties - they supplied the Lego and helped the kids pick a theme and build something. After everyone showed off what they’d built, and ate cake and pizza. My favorite part was the goody bags - I found so many fun Lego themed thing. Stickers, stress balls, even Lego shaped snacks!
