September Brings Changes

It’s back to school season!

I’m not going to lie, this back to school period was hard. The calendar was very full, even without the fun celebrations for a birthday and vacation. We had three children starting school on three different days, and each had an orientation day and back to school night on top of that. Two of the children were starting completely new schools, which only added to the stress.

But now that we’re almost on the other side, I think it went well. There were a few surprise tears at kindergarten orientation, but they didn’t last long and they soon turned to excitement and smiles. E and G are both riding the bus, which has been on time so far and just as fast and bumpy as ever, according to the kids.

E was the first to start school, and is at least in the same building so that was mostly okay, even if they didn’t know anyone in their class. They’ve been in school over a week now, and things are going smoothly and they’re happy. Still I’ve already been in the school meeting with teachers and staff, and there are more back to school events to come.

G started kindergarten this year, and was more nervous than I expected, but is also doing great. It’s nice to see some familiar faces (like our bus driver!) because we also know no one in his class. Of course he went in hard on the first day and claims to have already made a best friend, and says he’s having the most fun.

F also started a new school due to some issues at her previous one. It had been great for a long time, until it wasn’t, so it worked out to have her start somewhere new at the same time E and G were going back to school. It was a rough transition leaving a place she’d been at since she was born, but I think we’re all happier now.

And I’m certainly ready for some structure and schedules!
