You know me, I love when a kid gives me a theme to work with. F has been very clear for a while now that she expected her birthday to have a blue cake, goodie bags, and everyone to sing to her. But the actual theme she wasn’t super sure on.
F has two types of movies she loves - robot type movies (think Wall E and Baymax) and fishy movies. (She loves fishies because Fish starts with F!) I asked her if the fishes could swim on her blue cake and she said YES! So Finding Nemo/Finding Dory it was. She especially loves Dory (duh) so it worked well. When we were at the aquarium earlier this year she spent a while finding Dory in the big fish tank.
So I ran with the theme, and F was thrilled when she came home from school and saw the decorations. Her birthday was mid week, in the middle of back to school craziness, so it wasn’t the best time for a huge party. We were also heading out on vacation the next day so we couldn’t host anyone. But we had friends over and we opened presents and sang and ate blue cake, and she was super happy. And of course there were goodie bags.
So despite this being an “easy” party, with a relatively simple cake, I think it was a hit!
Happy birthday F!
