Such a good problem to have.
E and I took a solo trip to VT (more on that later) to celebrate Jemma last weekend.
There was an awesome turn out of friends, family and neighbors from all over, some of who hadn't met E yet, so it was a great time to catch up.
We were at the Gateway Center, which is beautiful and right on the water. I'm not sure why I didn't take more pictures of that - I'm kicking myself a bit for missing that opportunity. Sometimes I get so used to how pretty a place is that I forget to stop and enjoy it. I had to keep reminding myself of the same thing on the drive up. I get so focused on driving that I forget to look around at the mountains and lakes. It's breathtaking - especially this time of year when the leaves are starting to change.
So anyway, enjoy a picture I took off the internet - it looked pretty much the same last weekend. A bit chilly but still beautiful.
As the youngest guest in attendance, E did great. He was kidnapped a few times because people just can't help themselves around those cheeks, but he didn't mind. He got a little tired about halfway through, and had trouble falling asleep with all of the excitement and little kids running around, but there really weren't any meltdowns. He just got a little clingy and more selective of whose arms he wanted to hang out in.
Mostly though he just wanted a front row seat to the action, and made sure to comment on every present that was opened. I suppose he is the expert on baby gear, after all. It was kind of funny to hear his voice just constantly babbling over everyone else. I'm preparing myself now for when he learns that his voice can go really loud and high pitched - I should probably order ear plugs now!
Life's looking a little different than it was a year ago, and I can't say that I mind. I can't wait to see what our gatherings are going to look like a year from now. Bring on the chaos!
