Birthday Meow

From ladybugs to kitty cats.

Mostly I’m just picking themes that seem fun based on random things she likes, and since I didn’t feel like throwing a baby doll birthday party, cats it is! So we decorated the whole house with cats with party hats and E helped me by blowing up a lot of balloons. He was home one day with me and bored, so I threw some balloons at him and told him to figure out how to blow them up! It was actually pretty cool watching him figure out what he needed to do.

Our cats didn’t love it, though. Every night you’d find them staring with wide eyes at the stuff hanging from the ceiling. Which to be fair, did look like we’d cut a head off a cat and hung it from a string…

Of course I made a cake, which in my mind seemed “easy” since it started with two normal circle cakes. But then I decided I was crazy and made two different frosting colors and thought piping them would look better. So here we go. I think you can mostly tell it’s a cat, although I heard squirrel or fox too. It took forever, but I enjoy making them for my kids, so I’ll continue for now. Everyone’s favorite part by far was the eyes, so every child got two eyes on their piece, no matter what part of the cat they were eating. F ate the entire tail, and seemed pretty happy.

My favorite part was the cat masks, although they were a little small for my face. We also had a pin the tail on the cat, which the kids got into even though F did it without a blindfold on. Mostly it was just normal birthday party craziness with kids running all over the house
