I had some time recently and made some summary videos of our last few months. I don’t do this often enough - especially because it doesn’t take that long, and I’m always excited to have the memory. I definitely have a picture problem, but at least I have a process of deleting ones that aren’t great and I try to organize the ones I keep. Videos, however, just sit in a folder. They take up so much space, and there are a lot that should probably be deleted, but it would be a full time job managing all of these. And there’s only more and more every day.
I love our phones for the ease of taking photos and videos and capturing moments as the kids get older, but it’s definitely created new problems.
But in the meantime, here’s some videos of us (well mostly the kids) from April - June 2020. Yes, that leaves a large chunk of time since I posted the last video (found here in case you’ve forgotten), but for some reason I’m working backwards right now. I only have about a year of catching up to do…
It’s funny, because apart from a messier house, you can’t really tell that life has changed too much from these videos. They look a lot like the summary videos of life before quarantine, but I guess it’s everything you don’t see that’s changed.
It probably means that looking back, G and E won’t realize that this time was weird or hard or different. They’ll just remember it as life. And that’s probably a good thing.

I’ve been talking about videos quite a bit lately. As much as I love photos and am definitely a photo person, I’ve shifted my focus to videos the past few months. A photo can never let you hear someone’s voice or laugh, really see how little your kids were, and just doesn’t capture the magic in quite the same way. So while I’ll still continue to fill my house with printed photos and books, I’m trying to focus a bit on videos too.
I recently got a professional video made of our most recent vacation, but while I was at it I also bought 3 extra videos to do first year compilations for each child. Obviously one of those is still unfinished, but I have the other two and had been showing them off to friends and family. And that’s when I realized that most people aren’t aware that I make a short video every month and put it on this website.
