25 Weeks
How about a random pregnancy facts and symptoms post?
We all know the fun fact that blood volumes increases in pregnancy, right? Up to 50% more than a woman usually has in her body, which can lead to some weird symptoms. Like pulsatile tinnitus. The current bane of my existence. All day long, instead of hearing co-workers, my children, or the TV, I hear “Woosh woosh woosh woosh.” And if I dare bend over, walk up the stairs or do, well, anything.. it gets louder and appears in both ears instead of just one.
It makes me crazy - not exactly a symptom I was prepared for. Figures a third baby would throw me for a loop. And here I was prepared for heartburn. In the meantime I’m going to pray that this won’t last the full 40 weeks, although it’s possible… thanks extra blood.
That extra blood does come in handy with the blood loss while giving birth, though. Most women lose 300-500 ml, unless they have a c section, where the number is closer to 1000 ml. I lost approximately 2000 ml with G’s birth, by the way - which is why we’re always a little nervous post delivery, but also why I shouldn’t complain too much about all that extra blood I’ve got now, even if it is causing problems.
I’m a bit shocked the heartburn hasn’t been a thing yet (watch, I just jinxed myself). Sure it pops up from time to time, but I haven’t been dying like I was with the previous two pregnancies. Guess this baby is coming out bald!
Overall I’m doing okay. I had a doctor’s appointment recently and besides scheduling my 3 hour glucose test (let’s be honest, we all know I’d fail the 1 hour one if I took it), there’s not a lot going on right now!
