Someone is Way Too Excited Over a Closet

And that someone is me. (You probably guessed that already, right?)

We have a spare room in our house that really can't be a bedroom, since you have to walk through it to get to another part of our house.  I think it's meant to be a small office, but it wouldn't work for Tom and I to share, and we've already set our office up in another room.

That left a craft room as the next obvious option.  If you know me at all, you know that the amount of craft related items I own is ridiculous.  They needed a spot.  The best part about this room, is that it has an okay sized closet.  Not big, but okay.  So it quickly became a fun challenge to figure out how we could maximize the space in there.

When we moved in, this closet had the same wire rod shelves that all the rest of our closets have.  Neither Tom or I grew up with these types of shelves, but we've both quickly developed a deep hatred for them.  So far we've removed them from two closets, but rest assured we will eventually kill them all.

Removing the current shelf was the easy part, deciding what to put in the closet instead was a lot harder.  Especially because every time I would decide on a vision, we'd quickly discover that what we were looking for didn't exist in the sizes that we needed.  So in the end, we decided to go with an old reliable - wooden shelves with adjustable brackets attached to twin tracks.

This gave me the flexibility to have varying shelf heights that I could fill with different storage boxes, drawers, and baskets.  We decided to do two sets of shelves on each end of the closet, making the close more of a "walk-in" then it was before.

While this gave us a lot more storage space, it also left the back wall completely empty.  It wasn't easily usable space since we didn't want to block the shelves, but we quickly found the perfect solution for it - a wrapping station!  Seriously this might be the thing that makes me happiest about this closet.  I can't wait to start wrapping Christmas presents with this organized, all in one place, station.  (Too soon for Christmas references?)

Now that I'm looking at these pictures, I'm aware that my camera was a little crooked when I took them. (Blame it on the excitement)  Rest assured that the shelves are completely straight haha.  Also don't mind my post-its everywhere.  Eventually I will label all of the boxes, but for now I'm just trying to save myself some time when I'm in search of markers or scissors and have forgotten which box they went in.
