Baaaaaa

A Birthday Party

G is the hardest kid to buy things for, or do something special for, because we have no idea what he likes. His Christmas list is still whatever his sibling gets. He plays with what everyone else plays with. And the only thing he really, really wants is baa baas. We’ve already done a sheep birthday party, though, and wanted to do something new and fun. So since G couldn’t decide, we said we’d plan something fun and he trusted us.

First up was a class birthday party! We picked a date well over a week before his birthday to try and keep it away from Christmas a bit. And believe it or not, it was the first class party of the school year. We went with the same movie theater we did E’s kindergarten birthday at - this gave G the ability to get something a sibling had, but also it does work really well for class parties and it was pretty easy because we knew what to expect (a must for something so close to the holidays).

The kids played games, watched Paw Patrol, and ate food nonstop. G picked out his own birthday outfit which included a yellow Belle dress, reindeer antlers and a superhero cape. His friends he most wanted to show up came, and overall I think everyone had a wonderful day.

On his actual birthday, there was no school (but there was daycare!), so we met up with friends and brought him to a trampoline park. We baked a cake that was yellow and rainbow, and gave him a box of baa baas and a baa baa blanket that he liked way better than the actual toys we got for him.

I think it was a success. Happy birthday G!

A Baa Baa Birthday Party

Somehow we managed to pull off a small celebration for G again, just days before Christmas. It’s such a hard thing - in the middle of getting ready for Christmas and wrapping presents and figuring all that out, we suddenly have to double decorate and make a cake and have him feel special.

For months he’d been asking for another train birthday cake, like he had for his birthday last year, but then suddenly with a month to go he asked if he could have a baa baa birthday again. I told him that surprisingly he’d actually never had a baa baa birthday before, at which point he demanded it.

April Happenings

Phew April is a busy month, and we still have a week left!

I think the small humans are feeling it too. Emotions have been high, boundaries are being tested, and we’re all exhausted. Luckily we’ve had plenty of fun too.

In our first piece of big news, we converted G’s bed from a crib to a toddler bed! Besides the fact that he asked (and that’s reason enough at this age I think), he was starting to learn that he could climb into it and I wanted to stop that before he realized he could climb out too. We made it 3 wonderful years with him contained, and now we’re working hard to make sure we don’t find him wandering the house in the middle of the night.

A Baby Toddler Update

These days all blur together and disappear so quickly that I’m worried I’m going to forget everything about them. Besides the fact that my brain doesn’t seem to be working right now, I feel like I haven’t written anything down in a while. So bear with me as I try to put together some semblance of an update on not so baby G.

Currently G is napping, but I just heard “leh-low!” over the baby monitor. I can’t tell if he’s dreaming about his favorite color, or he just woke up and decided to start naming things he loves.

Knobs!

Okay, maybe this is an odd thing to get excited about, but here I am.

We recently bought a dresser for the nursery when we realized the piece of furniture we had originally planned to use wasn't going to work.  The dresser was pretty, and fit the room, but I kept coming back to one thing that was bothering me - the knobs on the drawers.
