Catching Up: Places Visited

Who knows if I would have blogged all these as they happened or not, but I’ll throw them all in a post now to prove to my children later that I am in fact, not the worst, and it’s not true that we never do anything fun.

January was pretty awful, though. I’ll give them that. I got covid from the dentist, we lost power for the longest period of time since buying the house, we attempted and then backed way off from potty training, and it was announced that return to office was ramping up.

In February we went to the zoo. It’s still not our favorite place to go, but it kills a day. It’s 50/50 whether the kids like the animals or the playground better. In April we visited the aquarium in Boston, which I think they liked better. Well at least E did - they had a school project due on an animal and since they picked a very specific type of penguin that happens to live at the aquarium, I felt like we had to visit.

So we went and E was able to ask the staff some very detailed questions, while F found Dory among all the fishies. I was disappointed none of the kids though Myrtle the Turtle was cooler or wanted to see her get fed. Since we were in Boston for this trip, there was an added bonus of wandering the city, riding the greenway carousel, but this trip also cost us so so much more.

We went to our normal touch a truck, had some celebrations and birthdays, and my office brought me to a red sox game in May. What used to be super fun, has become more annoying with travel and logistics and trying to make sure I still get to the kids in time. Season of life and all that.

June brought the end of the school year for E, and preschool graduation for G (even though he continued with daycare for the rest of the summer). It was still cute and a nice way to say goodbye to a daycare we didn’t realize we’d be leaving a few months later. We also tried out a new children’s museum we’d never been to, and invited friends along with us, and then took the same group to a pride event the next weekend.
