She’s finally here!
It certainly wasn’t without drama, but we finally have our shed. We’ve been counting down for a long time, and the day it was installed was very exciting. From the minute the big truck pulled into our driveway, both kids were glued to the windows.
It was everything they could hope for. Trucks, tools, and equipment everywhere. At one point E got so excited he started banging on the windows, and was rewarded by waves from the entire crew. When you’re stuck at home every day, it doesn’t take much for us to get excited, but this was pretty cool even in non quarantine standards.
You might have noticed that there’s quite a gap under our shed, which was not the plan. The person we hired to level the ground and put down the crushed stone… well sucked. He didn’t do almost anything we asked for, but it wasn’t obvious until the shed arrived. Luckily the installers were able to get the shed level, but now we have a new problem.
Hopefully it’s nothing a truck full of dirt won’t fix, but still another problem for another day. Also made harder by the fact we can’t walk into a store and get the supplies we need, but everything is slowly being shipped to us, so we’ll be fine.
In the meantime, we are spending time brainstorming how to make the most of our space. I’ve already hung some pegboard, and we have a loft on one side. It’s amazing how quickly we’ve accumulated stuff. Stuff that needs to go somewhere, but I also feel pressure to make it organized in such a pretty shed. No just throwing things in and closing the door for us. (Hopefully).
The funny thing, is we debated so long over the color of the shed. We can’t figure out what color our house is. I call it grey, but it’s not. It’s got a brown undertone, but mostly it’s nothing. Unfortunately that doesn’t help with color matching. We tried grey, flint grey, pearl, beige, almond, tan - none of them even came close to what’s on our house. So we asked for samples of other random colors, and decided we’d go with the sagebrook green. It was pretty, seemed to complement the color of our house, and we figured would look good against the green trees surrounding it.
And then I was looking at the shed the other day, and in the sun it almost looks like it matches the color of our house. It looks great next to it, but also nothing like the samples we received, which just shows you how funny the sun makes things look.
Now I just want to plant a tree next to it, fix the landscaping a bit, and we’ll have a cute little corner of our yard. Can you see it?
