Holy cow, only one month to go!
I know I keep saying this, but I’m shocked this is where we are. How are you almost a year old? I feel like we’ve all survived some big battle and have come out victorious! We’ve survived, everyone is happy (mostly), and we’re really figuring out this family of four thing. Not that I didn’t think we’d get here, but I’m so proud of all that we’ve accomplished this past year, and it’s gone by so quickly! (When I sleep I forget all those rough months and I’m much happier - remember that!)
You have crushed this last month. You have a new tooth, your first word, and your ability to move around has improved as well. You spend your day chasing after the kitty, swimming after her as fast as you can with the deepest fake belly laugh coming out of you. You even learned how to climb up a full flight of stairs in order to follow her. The joy on your face when she stops close enough for you to touch her is amazing.
Another thing that brings you that much joy? The “mooing” container we have that your brother used to love. You’ll shake it up and down so it moos constantly until your eyes go crossed and a huge smile comes across your face. You’re all about interacting with your world more and more. Instead of chewing on a spoon from the play kitchen, you now will stand up and play with the buttons on the burners and open and close the doors. You also love to grab the salt and pepper shakers and make your own music with them.
At daycare you live climbing and exploring and moving all over. You hate the cold, and will scream if your hands are exposed or your head isn’t warm enough. I have to wrap you up like a burrito in the stroller before taking you and your brother out to the car after I pick you up. You’ve started to claim a few things for your own, too. Like the sheep duck that you have in your carseat. Speaking of the car, you’re not thrilled with it lately. Mostly when it’s dark, because you can’t see anyone in your mirror. The only thing that calms you down is either someone singing to you, or talking to you constantly. What can I say, I think you’re an extrovert.
Speaking of, that’s never more evident on days where you miss a nap at daycare and you’re super happy and giggly still, as long as you’re around people. And then we’ll realize that oh, you’re probably tired, and we’ll put you down and you’ll immediately collapse into a deep sleep. We’re starting to see this personality come out, and we love it. Suddenly you’re more toddler than baby, and it’s like you’re a whole new person. You love to laugh in a way that’s contagious, and are so interested in being a part of things. I can tell that life is about to get a lot more fun!
