The funny thing is, I don't know how to write this post. Even though it's years in the making, I'm at a loss for words. Not because I never thought it would come, because I did have faith that I'd be here eventually, but it still feels a little surreal. Maybe because even though I know for all intents and purposes that it's over, I still have to wait a few months until that diploma is in my hands. Or maybe because I'm already looking ahead at the requirements for the next one.
What do you do when something you've been working towards for years, finally happens?
The other day I did something that I haven't done in a while. I slept in while Tom got up to go to work. I got up a bit later and took my time getting ready. I took a nice long shower. I ate breakfast at home, instead of on the T or while walking to work. On the T, I read a book instead of watching a seminar video on my kindle. I stopped and got coffee on my walk in.
And I still got to the office by 7:15. A full hour and 15 minutes before I needed to be there. Old habits are hard to break. At least I tried.
Sometimes you need to be kind to yourself. To rest and give yourself a break after you've read 1,642 pages in preparation for a 4 hour exam. Even if that means wandering in circles as you try to figure out what you used to do with all of your free time.
In the meantime, I'll be accepting any and all book recommendations.
