So what did we actually do in Chicago? A lot of things!
It's hard to believe its already been a month since we were there! I guess we've been pretty busy since we've been back, but we're still talking about this trip and how much fun we had. While we were there, we went to Second City, one of my favorite improv houses, and watched future SNL cast members perform some of the smartest comedy comedy sketches I've seen. We explored the city on foot, ordered room service, and we visited the top of the Sears/Willis tower.
We also went to a Cubs game, because everyone should always see the Cubs while they're in Chicago, and because they're my second favorite team in baseball. Considering the season they're having, this was a very exciting time to see them. The whole city felt electric, much like it felt in Boston in 2004. Crossing my fingers this is the year for them!
Another must do in Chicago is of course Navy Pier. Part amusement park, part waterfront marketplace, we spent most of a day here because we were having so much fun. We rode the brand new Ferris Wheel (and of course the carousel), ate some food, enjoyed the water, and did some people watching.
We also managed to take a tour of the city, spend some time in Millennium Park, and check out the museum of science and industry. It's such a well done museum, with the mining exhibit being my favorite part.
Overall it was an extremely fun-filled and packed trip. I think we saw pretty much everything we wanted to, but weren't there long enough to get sick of the city. It always seemed like there was something else fun around the corner if we wanted to explore.
It was a perfect way to close out the summer for us.
