My First Home
Five years ago today, I was closing on my first home. It was a two bedroom condo in South Boston, with exposed brick and a bay window, and I loved it immensely. (And yes, the building was a bright coral color - maybe that's where we got the inspiration for wedding colors?)
After I signed the papers that day, I met up with my parents, and we celebrated by going to the Red Sox game later that afternoon. It seemed like the completely appropriate way of celebrating my new Boston residence.
This was the home where I learned how to re-calk a shower, how to take apart the U-bend of a sink, and how to refinish furniture. I even completed my first kitchen renovation here.
I was heartbroken when I sold it last year, but my life was changing. Tom and I were engaged, planning our wedding, and it didn't make sense to have two condos any more. The easiest solution was to let go of my Gates Street place, and use the proceeds to eventually find our forever home.
It seems only fitting that five years after buying my first home, we've now found that forever home. More details to follow, obviously, but for now we're taking things very slowly. Just know that we're super excited, and will share more details when we're ready!
