Halloween Recap!

So as promised, pictures and a recap from Halloween!

Any guesses what I decided to dress up as?  Maybe I should have mentioned that it would be a couple's costume :)  The answer?

Ninja Turtles!

Of course anyone who was at the wedding might have guessed this, as it's been a connection between Tom and I since we started dating.  We were both huge fans growing up, I even had a ninja turtle themed 6th birthday party!

I dressed up as my favorite, Leonardo, and Tom was Raphael.  And as promised, our costumes were not elaborate, but rather quick and easy (and comfortable!).  There was no way that I was going to find or make shells for us to wear.  Some day maybe, but I know when to cut corners and save time!

Complete with a Leonardo cake of course!

The cake topper from our wedding. I'm Leonardo and Tom is Raphael here too.

We spent Halloween night in Woburn, MA, hanging out with some friends, playing board games and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.  Unfortunately we didn't get a ton, and most of them didn't even have costumes!  My goal in life is to live in a place where I get a lot of trick-or-treaters!  (and by a lot, I mean more than 10).   In Vermont I lived on a dirt road where the houses were spaced pretty far apart, so we never got any.  In Boston I've mostly lived in apartment buildings, where trick-or-treaters are rare.  I've only lived in one apartment that had a door to the street, and I think I got about 5 a year when I lived there.

It was a bit of a bummer, because our hosts had even painted a pumpkin teal and shopped for appropriate treats to go along with it!  Have you heard about the Teal Pumpkin Project?  It's fairly new, but it was created as a way to include children, for whom candy is not an option (usually because of allergies), to participate in Halloween.  It's easy enough to do, and I love making kids happy and included.  No one who came to the door asked specifically for non candy treats, but we gave out stickers anyway.

So even though there weren't a ton of trick-or-treaters, we had a super fun night and enjoyed showing off our costumes and playing with our "weapons!" (Especially against scary pumpkin-dog hybrids!)

Did you dress up for Halloween?  Did you get any trick-or-treaters at your house?
